Integrated Biometrics a Security Enhancement in Arch

System access security in a retail operation is of critical importance to manage risk at different levels. Card and PIN identification systems do not ensure restricted access. In addition, cards and PINs can be easily lost or stolen. Biometric verification is the modern trend by which a person can be uniquely identified by evaluating one or more distinguishing biological traits such as fingerprints.
The most popular biometric method today is fingerprint identification, due to its superior combination of strength, affordability, maturity, convenience and ease of use. Biometric identifiers such as fingerprints are one-of-a-kind, and cannot be guessed, stolen, shared or re-created. Biometrics has been integrated with Arch Retail, which will allow Arch users and Debtors to log on or do account transactions, which is more secure, using fingerprint identification. The solution is already operational in two corporate Arch groups, namely Chester Meats and Ultra Liquors. At present the functionality is carried out by a standalone fingerprint reader, but will shortly be an integrated feature in the TowerPOS check-out machine.
