Qwa Qwa Cash & Carry continues with Arch

The sale of wholesale stores in the Masscash grouping of Massmart, has been announced in the press recently and this process has now commenced. One such store is Qwa Qwa Cash & Carry, a store which has been running on Arch for the past 12+ years and was sold to a franchisee of the Devland Group. The store will in future be known as Devland Impuphu Cash & Carry.
An important business decision had to be made, do they continue running on Arch, or do they convert the store to an alternative solution? An important consideration was that the store personnel are au fait with Arch and holds the solution in high regard. The decision was made to continue with Arch (15 POS & 13 BO points). The challenge the team faced was to convert the store from a corporate Masscash operation to an independent store against tight timelines.
The new owner of the store committed to Arch late Friday afternoon the 26th of March, on one condition and that was they must open for normal trade Monday the 29th of March. The KZN branch mobilised a team who departed for the store on Friday night.
The enormity of the task in-hand was realized on Saturday morning when the work commenced. The following were done: redo the 26 Arch points and server; Masscash removed the database and gave the store a basic Excel extract; by Saturday afternoon 90% of the technical work was done; Technical at Head Office managed to build a workable data base from limited information; Sunday the floor was test-scanned, Arch was commissioned on all points and cashier/admin training was done.
A fully functional Arch store was delivered Monday morning with trade commencing at 10h00, as promised. We salute all Spinnaker personnel involved in delivering a quality end-product against all odds, but special mention must be made of Michaelen and Ralph from the KZN office for their on-site work and Andre Swart from Head Office for delivering a workable database.
Last, but not least, we thank Naeem Kharwa, the owner and his team for entrusting us with this challenge to deliver. We are grateful for allowing the legacy of Arch in store, to continue. Rest assured, as a business partner of Arch your pursuit of success, is ours.
